Job description

Shift: 7am-3:30pm
About 1X
We build humanoid robots that work alongside people to solve labor shortages and create abundance.
The Role
This is a hands-on, high impact role where you will operate humanoid robots in R&D environments and, as the technology scales, in customer homes. As a Senior Operator, you will execute at a high level of precision while also elevating team performance, contributing to process improvements, and setting the standard for operational excellence. You'll follow structured procedures to collect high-quality data, help annotate and support robot sessions, monitor performance, report issues, and maintain safety and quality. Your work feeds directly into the AI training process and impacts how robots behave in real settings.
Responsibilities
  • Operate humanoid robots with high precision following SOPs in lab and residential environments
  • Lead by example in executing complex tasks, ensuring consistency and high-quality data collection
  • Use a Virtual Reality headset while performing designated movements and actions based on project requirements
  • Support active robot sessions: stage environments, assist in task execution, interact with the robot to ensure smooth operation
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies or gaps in workflows and contribute to improving SOPs, tools, and processes
  • Annotate collected data using internal tools to support AI model training
  • Monitor robot performance; report clear issue logs including timestamps, video/screenshot, and task context
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe, working condition and raise standards for operational readiness
  • Provide feedback on the performance of the equipment
  • Analyze and report on data collected during shift
  • Communicate with leadership when issues arise that need addressing in a timely manner
  • As systems deploy, provide in-home support with professionalism and clear communication
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines in lab and residential environments
  • Maintain clean, clear records of completed workflows and robot/system behaviors
  • Work flexible shifts including day/swing, weekends, + overtime when needed

  • 2+ years of experience operating robots
  • Proven experience in robotic operations, technical systems, or similar hands-on environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose issues and produce high-quality reports
  • Demonstrated ability to execute tasks with high accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail
  • Experience contributing to process improvements, SOP development, or operational scaling is preferred
  • Comfortable working on feet and in VR environments for extended periods of time
  • Height between 5'4'' and 6' as role requires the use of custom data collection gear
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, crouch, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and wear various types of equipment weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Continuous hand/eye coordination and fine manipulation, body coordination, and kinesthetic awareness
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely and communicate clearly with leadership when issues arise
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to office locations and nearby customer sites
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule: day/night shift and 1 weekend day + overtime when needed

Benefits & Compensation
  • Hourly Range: $36-$46
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
