Why Choose Colton Truck Terminal Garage?

  • High Earning Potential: Steady, competitive hourly pay that respects your field experience, plus consistent overtime opportunities to maximize your earning potential.
  • Structured Shop Operations: Work under a clear, communicative leadership structure. Our Shop Foremen execute first-thing morning check-ins to review daily jobs, check your progress, and ensure you have the exact parts and tools you need to stay productive.
  • Professional Development & Cross-Training: We actively focus on employee growth. You will collaborate directly with senior technicians and shop leadership to cross-train across multiple platforms, master advanced diagnostics, and expand your skill set beyond your prior roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bumper-to-Bumper Service: Perform intermediate diagnostics, routine preventative maintenance, and comprehensive mechanical repairs on medium/heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and RV chassis.
  • Systems Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, front/rear suspensions, steering linkages, electrical circuits, lighting systems, and heavy-duty HVAC units.
  • Proactive Diagnostics: Execute thorough initial inspections (including complete suspension and secondary system checks) immediately on day one so that our Shop Foremen can order required parts and secure customer approvals via SignWell without production delays.
  • Labor Efficiency: Maintain an aggressive focus on billable, revenue-generating jobs. Work closely with shop leadership to manage clock hours and minimize unapplied (idle) time under our daily efficiency guidelines.
  • Compliance Inspections: Conduct highly accurate safety inspections to prepare commercial units for state and federal DOT and BIT compliance.
  • Production & Documentation: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe bay. Accurately document completed repair steps, clock hours, and technical diagnostic notes on work orders via our shop management system (Karmak).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of verifiable, hands-on experience in heavy-duty commercial truck, trailer, or RV maintenance and repair.
  • Tools: Must possess and maintain a complete, professional personal tool set capable of handling general heavy-duty repairs (in alignment with California trade guidelines for this wage tier).
  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with solid foundational knowledge of diesel engine maintenance, air brake systems, and circuit-level electrical troubleshooting. Experience with Cummins diesel engines or RV chassis systems is highly advantageous.
  • Licensing: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. A valid Class "A" or Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.
  • Screening: Must be able to pass a clean background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.
