Summary:
Extrusion Process Technician "A" is responsible for line changes/setups, machine and tooling troubleshooting, maintenance repair, and tear down of all extrusion line and extrusion machines as applicable to insure a safe, clean, and efficient production environment, resulting in finished product that adheres to the quality standards of George Fischer IGA. The Extrusion Process Tech "A" is the cell leader with an understanding of all facets of the operation of extrusion and the capabilities to lead and train other employees in the functions of their respective positions in extrusion
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Changeover of extrusion line and tooling.
  • Troubleshoot all operating equipment.
  • Process all materials.
  • Start-up and shut down of Extrusion Department.
  • Works with minimum supervision.
  • Ensure that proper materials are used at each machine.
  • Make sure downstream equipment set-up properly. Saws, Pullers and Tanks.
  • Maintain safe operation such as safety switches, electrical wiring on tooling etc.
  • Maintain set-up records on tools, preventative maintenance and run profiles.
  • Adjust machines to produce quality products.
  • Train Operators and Technician "B"
  • Operate all equipment within the department.
  • Perform duties as assigned.
  • Report any safety problems to Supervisor.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized area.
  • Cover shift in absence of Supervisor
  • Supports the established quality Policy
  • Fulfills role as required in the documented quality system manual, directives and work instructions.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to perform as a cell leader with knowledge and skills necessary to train other employees to improve their overall
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., standing/walking for a minimum of eight hours per day.
  • Must be able to furnish basic hand tools require to perform the functions of a Process Technician "A".

Education and Experience:
  • Must meet all requirements of a Process Technician "B" and "C". High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write English clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to process an extrusion machine, making adjustments to the process to ensure that quality is met.
  • Minimum of eight years of plastic processing experience performing sophisticated set-ups or six years plastic experience in a similar or same role and a certificate from an accredited trade school that teaches plastic processing.
  • Thorough knowledge of the machine and tooling functions/interactions, perform some machine repairs, all preventative maintenance on machine tools.
  • Perform set-ups/process all applicable jobs, and facilitate efficient operation of the equipment
  • Passing a company post-employment physical as well as controlled substance testing and background and security checks, as required.
