Job description

Job Title: Substitute Teacher

Date: 8/1/2022

Job Class: Academic Year, Part-Time

Salary Type: Half Day/ Full Day; Non-Exempt

Reports to: Sub Teacher Coordinator

Summary:

Substitute Teachers are those who fill temporary vacancies created when teachers or teaching assistants are absent or on leave from the workplace. To excel in this role, one should have in-depth knowledge of effective teaching practices that ensure learning is a comfortable and meaningful experience. Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Specific Responsibilities:


  • Adhere to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher.

  • Follow procedures established by FBA and achieve lesson goals.

  • Assign and explain any homework to students.

  • Oversee students outside of the classroom including in the hallways, during lunch time and during recess (as needed).

  • Comply with all FBA school regulations and policies at all times.

  • Take attendance and document any daily notes you feel are necessary to share with the teacher.

  • Ensure classroom and work space is kept clean and orderly.

  • Oversee the normal classroom rhythms and activities.

  • Communicate in a friendly and positive manner towards parents, students, and administrators.

  • Compile a report for the teacher for when he/she returns.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to help others follow Jesus.

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

  • Certificate in teaching or substitute teaching (PREFERRED)

  • Must be detail oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Conclusion:

The appropriate school level principal or Sub- Coordinator shall determine which substitute teachers performed at an acceptable level. Substitute teachers who performed below an acceptable level shall not be recommended for continuing service.
