Critical Care FLOAT (Day Shift)
Location: Utica, NY, 13502
Duration: 13 week
Shift: Day; 6:30 AM -7 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Weekly Pay Rate: $2,160 - $2,304; (Negotiable based on experience)

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Critical Care Float RN to join our team in Utica, NY. This is a day shift travel position designed for experienced ICU nurses who are comfortable floating between units, including Medical-Surgical (MS), and managing a variety of patient caseloads.

As a Float RN, you will be assigned where needed most and may be expected to take a patient load of 6–7 patients when floating to the Med-Surg unit. Your ability to quickly adapt, maintain composure, and deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment will be crucial.


Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective patient care in ICU and Med-Surg settings.
  • Float between ICU and MS units as needed.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Monitor and report changes in patient conditions to physicians and the care team.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
  • Ability and willingness to float to Med-Surg and handle a 6–7 patient assignment.
  • Certifications Required:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Active NY RN License – Valid and in good standing.
  • Epic EMR experience preferred.
  • Strong adaptability and time management skills.
  • Previous float or travel RN experience is a plus.
