Starting pay begins at $20.00 per hour, with higher rates available for candidates who bring relevant experience.  Night shift offers a $1.50 per hour shift premium. 


Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Packaging Operator in our Low Voltage Division is responsible for safely packaging, labeling, inspecting, and preparing finished wire and cable products for shipment. This role ensures products meet quality standards, customer specifications, and shipping requirements while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Package finished wire and cable products according to customer specifications and company procedures.
  • Operate packaging equipment, stretch wrappers, banding machines, and other related tools.
  • Verify product identification, reel sizes, lengths, labels, and packaging requirements before shipment.
  • Inspect finished products for quality, damage, and proper labeling.
  • Apply labels, tags, and shipping documentation accurately.
  • Perform reel handling using forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, or other material handling equipment.
  • Weigh, measure, and record packaged products as required.
  • Maintain production records and complete required documentation.
  • Follow established quality control standards and report any product defects or discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory movement and staging of finished goods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following all safety regulations.
  • Support production operations and other departments as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Read and comprehend production work orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Use forklifts to move materials.

 Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Forklift driving experience desired, training provided.
  • Use of overhead cranes desired, training provided.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and overtime.
  • Strong attention to detail.


Work Environment

The essential functions of this job require working within a production facility with exposure to various noise levels from machinery and equipment. 


Physical Demands

This is an active role as the employee will work in a manufacturing environment.  While performing the essential functions of the job the employee will be required to stand, balance or walk on a consistent basis during a 12-hour shift and may on a frequent basis be required to twist, turn, stoop, squat, kneel, bend or reach.  The employee must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment. The employee must use safe lifting techniques when lifting objects up to 50 pounds and carry out repetitive hand/wrist movements to include forearm rotation. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  The employee is frequently required to listen and speak and use their hands to operate equipment.

Requirements:

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent. 

• Previous packaging, manufacturing, or warehouse experience- wire and cable manufacturing is a plus.

• Ability to read, follow,  and understand work orders.


Work Schedule Our facility operates 24/7. Qualified candidates must be able to work a flexible/rotating work schedule, including weekends, and cover overtime as needed. Openings are currently full time on day shift- hours 5a to 5p and night shift- hours are 5p to 5a EST. 


 Job Classification: FLSA Status: non-exempt, job classification: full-time
