Job description

Additive Manufacturing Operations Technician

What your day looks like

You start your morning in the Petersburg Additive Manufacturing Hub, reviewing the prototype queue and confirming build readiness across multiple additive platforms. You prep machines, run changeovers, verify material settings, and kick off prints. Midday, you collaborate with internal customers to translate application needs into manufacturable designs, offering DfAM guidance before slicing the next job. By afternoon, you’re measuring first articles with CMM and 3D laser scanning, updating travelers and electronic records, and closing the day with preventive maintenance and lab housekeeping.

Core impact
  • Operate, set up, change over, and disassemble a range of additive manufacturing machines to deliver prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and parts.
  • Support Additive Manufacturing Hub customers with DfAM input, application scoping, and clear communication via email, phone, virtual, and in-person touchpoints.
  • Interpret 3D CAD, tooling drawings, and prototype/product schematics; read basic GD&T and machine prints.
  • Plan and manage prototype schedules with minimal supervision while keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Apply machining know‑how to finish parts in-house or coordinate effectively with outside vendors.
  • Use precision measurement techniques, including CMM and 3D laser scanning, to validate results.
  • Share observations on capabilities and gaps, collaborating with all levels of management to improve Petersburg additive processes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-calibrated lab; complete documentation on paper forms and in electronic systems.
  • Embrace plant-wide safety, ergonomics, and environmental standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to advance product and process development.
What you bring
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with strong mechanical aptitude; prior industrial/additive experience is a plus.
  • Ability to regularly stand and move throughout the shift; lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs.
  • Wear employer-provided PPE as required by the department.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
Schedule and location

Based in Petersburg with a Monday–Friday schedule (8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.).

Why you’ll love working here
  • Employee Ownership: Annual stock awards (10% of compensation)
  • 401(k) Match: Up to 4% dollar-for-dollar
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, HSA with company contributions, life insurance, disability coverage, and pet insurance available after 30 days
  • Competitive Pay: Competitive hourly rate considering prior experience, plus annual bonus eligibility potential
  • Career Growth: On-the-job training, pay-for-skill, and advancement opportunities
  • Work-Life Balance: PTO starting at 3 weeks, 11 paid holidays
  • Additional Offerings: Tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses, and employee discount programs
