Job description

Get to know us: NOVO Health Services offers linen management solutions to the healthcare industry. NOVO Health keenly focuses on safety and infection control and provides its partner hospitals with a value-driven linen management control system that measures and monitors linen utilization by department to eliminate excess internal costs. NOVO's wide range of service programs offer a variety of options to provide a seamless, single source distribution system. NOVO's regional healthcare linen facilities are HLAC accredited and operate with state-of-the-art processing equipment and processes.
Primary Function: Sort, inspect, fold and bundle full dried linen. Place on conveyors or carts.
Representative duties within department:
Machine fold, small pieces such as bath towels, bibs, hand towels, patient gowns, or pillowcases.
Dump the sling containing work into lift table. Sort load into like items, if required, while operating folder. Inspect each piece to quality standards. Place rejected items in appropriate basket. Feed piece into machine entry point. May pre-fold item and/or untie strings. Lower lift table to floor level.
Incidental Duties for position:
Set program number, fold width, counter, or other controls consistent with product. Run wax cloth through equipment as required. Sort and distribute mis-sorted items to appropriate bins, baskets or tables. Turn off equipment; remove jammed items.
Machine fold, large pieces such as bath blankets, thermal blankets, or member specials.
Dump the sling containing work into lift table. Sort load into like items, if required, while presenting item corners to feeders. Feed piece into machine entry point. Inspect each piece to quality standards. Place rejected items in appropriate basket. Adjust output bundles to proper count and appearance. Lower lift table to floor level.
Incidental Duties for position:
Set program number, fold width, counter, or other controls consistent with product. Sort and distribute mis-sorted items to appropriate bins, baskets or tables. Hand fold when required during equipment downtime. Turn off equipment; remove jammed items. May move, open, or close shipping carts. May fill cart to meet pick list level. May cross fold, count and/or stack product.
Hand fold, various pieces such as mattress pads, pajama bottoms, gowns, jackets, incontinent pads, etc.; stack washcloths.
Sort load into like items, if required, completing bundles. Inspect each piece to quality standards. Place rejected items in appropriate basket. Fold and stack each item. Count to proper bundle size. Place bundles on conveyor. Lower lift table to floor level.
Incidental Duties for position:
Sort and distribute mis-sorted items to appropriate bins, baskets or tables. Hand fold towels and other machine fold pieces when required during equipment downtime. Snap IV gowns before folding to identify failed snaps. Schedule varies; frequency as directed. Patch holes in linen where required by quality standards.
Mops and Rags.
Inspects and sorts mops/rags to standard. Places mops/rags in plastic bag; close and tie bag. May place mops/rags directly into carts. When mop/rag count meets pick list and/or order requirement, leave completed work for order makeup. Multiple orders may be placed in a single cart in a predetermined pattern.
Incidental Duties for position:
Notify lead worker of equipment or linen problems. May transport work from dryer area to mop area. May place product in or pack from storage bins.
Incidental duties for Department.
Move rewash to soil sort. Move stain to scale, weigh and record, move stain to washroom. Move final stain to scale, weigh and record, vacuum final stain to mending. Move mending to scale, weigh and record, vacuum mending to mending. Rotate among work stations hourly, unless under medical restriction. May tie-up on carousels. May assist lead worker in moving linen or tying slings. May serve as trainer for new employees. Remove rags from under lift tables; place in rag carts. May clean work area and equipment. Cover baskets to be processed for the next day Notify lead worker of equipment or linen problems. Move non-MUHL linen to Soil Sort.
Additional Job duties as assigned.
