Carbon Process Technician

Day-shift, weekday-focused role in the Carbon area, supporting audits, sampling, process control, troubleshooting, and data-based continuous improvement in a large industrial manufacturing environment.

Join Alcoa as a Carbon Process Technician and help transform day-to-day process information into clear action. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys working independently in a large industrial manufacturing environment, using computer skills, audit results, samples, and clear communication to help improve process stability, safety, and operational decision-making.

About the Role

As the Carbon Process Technician, you will be accountable for key processes and performance measures in the Carbon area. You will work closely with the hourly workforce, supervisors, management, production, maintenance, and support organizations to meet areaobjectivesand support continuous process improvement. You will serve all areas of the Carbon plant by completing audits, observations, measurements, and sampling; organizing results into spreadsheets or other practical reporting formats; and sharing insights with supervisors and the process team to support troubleshooting and process changes.

This is typically a weekday day-shift role, such as 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with limited overtime unless voluntary opportunities arise. You should expect to spend time in a large industrial plant environment that can be hot, dirty, and potentially hazardous. While the role is not expected to involve significant manual labor, strong safety awareness and comfort spending time in production areas are important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform process audits, observations, measurements, and sampling across Carbon areas, ensuring required data is captured consistently across shifts.

  • Analyze audit and sample results, convert findings into score samples, spreadsheets, or concise summaries, and share results with supervision and the process team.

  • Investigate, diagnose, and help correct process issues, improving processstabilityand supporting hourly employees withaccuratetroubleshooting.

  • Partner with supervisors, operators, maintenance, production, management, and support organizations to support shift planning, work schedules, process control, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide practical feedback to operators and supervisors on process control performance and opportunities for improvement.

  • Work autonomously once audit and sampling schedules areestablished, taking accountability for completion, follow-up, and clear communication of issues or needed support.

What You Bringto the Role

  • High school diploma or GEDrequired.

  • Strong computer and digital literacy, including MicrosoftOfficeand the ability to organize and summarize audit or sample data in spreadsheets or similar tools.

  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to interpret process information and support corrective actions.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and complete scheduled audits and samples reliably.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to share findings with operators, supervisors, and the process team, and to raise issues early.

  • Exposure to large industrial manufacturing preferred, with smelter, Carbon, anode production, Carbon process, ABS, or Lean manufacturing knowledge helpful. Pot room experience and QLC Mobile or APG experience are notrequired. A commitment to safe work practices and comfort working in hot, dirty, and potentially hazardous production environments are important for success.
