POSITION SUMMARY The TERO Day Labor Crew Leader will oversee and manage the Yurok TERO Day Labor crew. Day Labor Crew Leader will be in charge of overseeing, managing, scheduling, recruitment, and implementation of the Day Labor Program, stationed out of the Klamath TERO office. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Hands-on supervision of Day Labor participants on projects. 2. Oversee the assigned projects to ensure equipment is available and used safely.

3. Assist Day Laborers with paperwork necessary to track their time of work. 4.

Oversee and perform safety checks as deemed necessary and provide daily safety meetings. 5. Travel to different sites to perform projects.

6. Scheduling of Day Labor Projects with Tribal Departments, community members, and approved action item directives from the Yurok Tribal Council. 7.

Must be able to use basic hand tools (shovel, rake, loppers, Pulaski, McLeod, mattock, pike-axe) for trail maintenance. Must also be able to teach laborers appropriate use of hand tools. 8.

Will be required to wear safety gear (gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, safety equipment and outdoor work boots). 9. Effectively communicate tasks and instructions to crew.

10. Work with TERO staff to stay on a strict routine. 11.

Must have the ability to carry hand tools and hike outdoors. 12. Must be responsible for the maintenance and inventory of field equipment.

13. Have the ability to run gas operated equipment (chainsaw, weed whacker, etc.) 14. Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 1. G6: Highschool diploma or GED with four years of job specified experience. 2.

Employee must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or becomes required of the position in the future. 3. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must be 18 years or older and have demonstrated knowledge of the Yurok Tribe and the Reservation communities. 2.

Knowledge of basic hand tools and basic maintenance of hand tools. 3. Ability to understand and apply policies, procedures, and program standards.

4. Ability to apply safe work practices in all phases. 5.

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions. 6. Able to exercise sound independent judgment within established guidelines and protocol and apply common sense in field situations.

7. Recognition that in order to serve Yurok People one must know as much as possible about Yurok history, culture and values. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities.

Plans work of subordinates based on priorities, nature of assignment. Develops work performance plans and evaluates the performance of subordinates. Provides advice, instruction, and guidance to subordinates on work and administrative matters.

Effects disciplinary actions and determines developmental training needs of employees. Supervises subordinate employees including assigning and reviewing work, evaluation performance, training, taking necessary disciplinary action and making hiring and termination decisions. Use and promote a team approach to management and ensure accountability throughout the workplace.

Will be responsible for 2-15 Day Labor participants, during Day Labor Projects throughout the Yurok Tribal Service area. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. All applicants are subject to the Tribe's Drug and Alcohol Policy including pre-employment screening.

Position could require travel and occasional work outside of regular work schedule.
