Description: Under the supervision of pathologists, assists with preparing and selecting/dissecting tissue samples for analysis, including small biopsies and a variety of large specimens. ย Record Findings. Teaches techniques of specimen dissection and tissue sectioning for microscopic examination to residents rotating through the Department. Prepare frozen section slides for Pathologist.ย Prepare digital photograph of gross pathology specimen for teaching and publications. ย Maintain the supplies in frozen section room and grossing room. Participate in quality assurance assessment and other duties required by medical director. Communicates effectively with Surgeons, Primary Care Physicians, visitors, co-workers and other employees.

Education: Bachelor's / Masterโ€™s degree from an accredited Pathology Assistant

program. Certification as a pathology assistant preferred. ย Able to read, write and speak English.

PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

Certification as a pathology assistant preferred REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS AND LEVEL OF AUTONOMY: Performs duties under the direction and supervision of a qualified Pathologist. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
