Job description

The Company is hiring an experienced Slitter / Slitter Rewinder Operator to set up, run, and troubleshoot slitting equipment for precision roll-to-roll converting of films, foams, adhesives, liners, and other specialty materials.

This position requires at least 3 years of hands-on slitting/rewinding or closely related roll-to-roll converting experience. The successful candidate will be capable of independently performing machine setups and changeovers, setting blades and spacers, controlling web tension and rewind quality, troubleshooting process issues, and maintaining accurate production and quality records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate slitting/rewinding equipment according to work orders, drawings, and product specifications.
  • Install and adjust blades, spacers, cores, shafts, chucks, and other machine components as required.
  • Load, unload, and handle rolls of material safely and efficiently using appropriate material-handling methods.
  • Set and monitor slit width, web tension, alignment, roll build, rewind quality, and finished roll appearance throughout production runs.
  • Process pressure-sensitive adhesive materials, films, papers, liners, foams, and other flexible web materials.
  • Inspect slit material for width, roll condition, edge quality, telescoping, defects, contamination, and overall appearance.
  • Use approved inspection tools and samples to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot common slitting issues such as tension variation, tracking problems, poor roll build, adhesive transfer, wrinkles, and slit-edge defects.
  • Complete work orders, material usage records, labels, inspection forms, and other required production paperwork accurately.
  • Clean machine components, tooling, shafts, blades, and work areas in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Communicate material, equipment, quality, or process concerns promptly to supervision and Quality.
  • Support continuous improvement, standard work, training, and equipment-maintenance activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating slitting/rewinding equipment or comparable roll-to-roll converting machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete machine setups, changeovers, adjustments, and production runs.
  • Experience installing and adjusting blades, spacers, cores, shafts, and related slitting components.
  • Experience working with roll-fed materials such as pressure-sensitive adhesives, films, liners, tapes, papers, or other flexible substrates.
  • Working knowledge of web handling, tension control, rewind quality, slit-width control, and finished roll inspection.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to make accurate machine adjustments and troubleshoot routine slitting issues.
  • Ability to read work orders, specifications, drawings, approved samples, and production documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Duplex slitter/rewinder operation.
  • Slitting films, release liners, pressure-sensitive adhesive materials, tapes, or specialty converted products.
  • Experience with razor, shear, and/or score slitting methods.
  • Experience with roll-to-roll production, rewinding, and tension-sensitive materials.
  • Use of calipers, rulers, gauges, approved samples, or other measurement devices.
  • Experience in an ISO-controlled, medical-device, or quality-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience training or supporting developing operators.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and operate manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials, tooling, cores, shafts, and machine components as required for the position.
  • Ability to safely handle rolls and use material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive production tasks.
  • Ability to visually inspect slit material and finished rolls for width, roll condition, defects, and general quality.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and safely handle blades and production materials according to company procedures.
