Camp Coney Pine, in Rochester, NH, is seeking Unit Leaders for the summer 2026 season! Our camp, a traditional outdoor summer day camp, serves youth to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y.
Unit Leaders oversee a group of same-aged campers and are responsible for planning and implementing their daily activities and schedule. Unit Leaders supervise several Jr Counselors and Counselors and are responsible for our campers' safety, engagement and primary point of success at camp.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversees LIT and CIT programs
  • Build positive nurturing relationships with campers that fosters Character building
  • Build cooperative relationships with coworkers, supervisors and parents; supervision of staff team
  • Develop, implement, and manage camper group activities and schedule
  • Lead and participate in a variety of camp activities - arts & crafts, STEM, active games and more
  • Support the delivery of specialty programming
  • Engage positively in camp life in a variety of weather and locations - indoors, outside, aquatics area, in the rain, summer heat, and beyond!
  • Manage camper behaviors using the camper success and safety plan
  • Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with parents through open communication

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college credits or certifications in a related field preferred
  • Have at least 2 years of experience working with youth at camp or similar setting; experience facilitating activities in a recreation setting
  • Possess strong organizational and group management skills
  • Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold
  • Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season
  • Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work

Position Specifics:
  • Camp season runs 06/22/26 through 08/28/26 and must be able to work most of the camp weeks
  • Pay range $15.80 - $17.30 hr depending upon experience
