The 50 rule in bartending refers to the guideline that a bartender should not serve more than 50 drinks to a single customer in one night to promote responsible service and prevent over-intoxication. It emphasizes the importance of monitoring alcohol consumption and maintaining a safe environment, often supported by responsible beverage service training. This rule helps ensure compliance with legal and safety standards in the hospitality industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Day Bartender, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Day Bartender, you need strong beverage knowledge, customer service skills, and typically a food handler’s or bartending certification. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, drink preparation tools, and inventory management software is also important. Excellent communication, multitasking, and a friendly demeanor help build rapport with guests and maintain an efficient bar environment. These skills ensure smooth operations, satisfied customers, and increased sales during daytime shifts.

What are some typical challenges a Day Bartender might face during a shift?

Day Bartenders often experience a different pace compared to night shifts, dealing with a quieter atmosphere but also a broader range of customer requests, such as coffee, lunch orders, and non-alcoholic drinks. They may also be responsible for prepping the bar for later shifts, handling inventory, and maintaining cleanliness. Multitasking and excellent time management are key, as day shifts can require balancing customer service with behind-the-scenes tasks. Additionally, building rapport with regular daytime patrons is essential for creating a welcoming environment.

Is 27 too old to start bartending?

Day bartenders can start at any age, and 27 is a common age to begin working in the industry. Success depends on skills, customer service ability, and obtaining necessary certifications like responsible beverage service training. Age is generally not a barrier to entering bartending.

Do I need a license to bartend?

In Pennsylvania, a day bartender must obtain a state-issued alcohol server permit, which involves completing responsible beverage service training. This license is required to legally serve alcohol in licensed establishments and is typically valid for a specified period before renewal.

Can you make $1000 a night bartending?

Day bartenders typically do not earn $1000 per night, as wages depend on factors like location, hours, and tips. In high-end venues or busy nightlife settings, experienced bartenders with strong customer skills can earn significant tips, but reaching $1000 nightly is uncommon for most standard shifts. Earnings vary widely based on environment and individual performance.

About the Company:

Anthony’s is a family-owned group of restaurants with 26 locations across the Pacific Northwest, including Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. For over 50 years, we’ve been dedicated to showcasing the best of the region through fresh local seafood, in-season ingredients, and genuine hospitality. Our deep commitment to quality is reflected in our unique approach—we operate our own wholesale company, which allows us to source directly from local fishermen, ranchers, and trusted partners. This ensures that only the freshest, highest-quality food makes it to our kitchens each day.

Because of this dedication to excellence, Anthony’s is not only a great place to dine—it’s also a great place to work. We’re looking for quality people who share our passion for food, community, and hospitality to join our team.

The Bartender plays a crucial role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by expertly preparing and serving a wide variety of beverages in a fast-paced environment. This position requires maintaining a clean and organized bar area while adhering to all safety and hygiene standards. The Bartender will engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring their needs are met promptly and courteously. Additionally, the role involves managing inventory, handling cash transactions accurately, and collaborating with other team members to support smooth operations. Ultimately, the Bartender contributes to Anthony's reputation for quality service and fine dining ambiance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fine dining or upscale hospitality setting.
  • Certification in responsible alcohol service or bartending.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of cocktails, spirits, and wine.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes and guest preferences.

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and alcohol service regulations to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with BOH and FOH staff to coordinate timely service during busy periods.

Skills:
