We are seeking a full-time Commissioning Engineer/Technician to join our dynamic and growing mechanical engineering consulting practice. We are looking for motivated candidates who can grow with this department. The selected applicant will conduct commissioning and retro-commissioning, and limited construction assistance services on a variety of property types. Experience performing commissioning on new and existing buildings is a requirement for applying to this position.
This position will require you to perform field inspections of government, commercial, industrial, multifamily residential, manufacturing, and institutional properties. This individual will be responsible for independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standards commissioning techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications. Additionally, qualified applicants will be capable of providing professional judgement and experience to delivier a technical solution and techniques for unique systems and construction situations.
The successful candidate may also be expected help perform commissioning activities such as construction document review, construction field installation verification, and equipment functional testing. Depending on project capacity, this candidate may also be expected to assist in limited mechanical assessments.
Responsibilities:
  • Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Prepares commissioning plan for complex or broad-scope projects new construction
  • Prepares Existing Building commissioning plan for complex or broad-scope projects new construction
  • Prepares commissioning specifications for complex or broad-scope projects
  • Prepares functional test scripts for complex or broad scope projects
  • Conduct site visits to verify system/equipment installation
  • Reviews system/equipment submittals and shop drawings for conformance with Owner's Project Requirements and for commissionability
  • Participates in Design Review meetings to discuss review comments.

  • Conducts existing building visits to verify system condition/building functions
  • Ability to functional test both new and existing building system to confirm they meet the project requirements and sequence of operation.

Requirements
Experience Requirements:
  • 10+ years progressive commissioning experience l or facilities operations & maintenance experience
  • Commissioning certification a requirement (CxA, CCCP, NEBB)
  • Retro-commissioning experience and building testing
  • An understanding of and experience with a variety of HVAC systems
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE standards
  • Familiarity with ICC Building, Mechanical and Green Energy Codes
  • LEED AP accreditation a plus
  • Excellent report writing skills, computer and internet skills
  • Excellent communication and management skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to complete assignments on-time and within budget
  • Ability to travel on short notice (1 week or less).

Communication, Language, and Software Skills
  • Ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy.
  • Ability to exercise good interpersonal skills.
