Job description

Overview
AI agents are rapidly becoming foundational across industries, transforming how organizations automate workflows, make decisions, and scale productivity. Unlike traditional promptbased systems, modern agents can reason, plan, and execute actions autonomously unlocking new business scenarios and operational efficiencies. By 2028, more than 1.3 billion agents are expected to be in active use worldwide, creating not only unprecedented opportunities but also a massive new ecosystem that organizations must govern, monitor, and secure.
Agent 365 is Microsoft's unified control plane for AI agents-providing a comprehensive platform for agent registry, lifecycle management, access governance, observability, interoperability, and security. The WorkIQInfra team builds the foundational connectivity and connectionmanagement services that power Microsoft 365 Copilot, Agent 365 (A365), and Power Platform-based agents, workflows, and applications.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on the Power Platform connection management space, a critical platform that enables secure, scalable, and compliant access to enterprise and thirdparty systems. This service is a core dependency for Copilotbased agents, lowcode and procode workflows, and intelligent applications across Microsoft. We operate at hundreds of thousands of workflows/agents/connectors using millions of connections for real world and agentic scenarios.
Your work will directly impact how agents authenticate, connect, and operate across organizational boundaries-at global Microsoft scale.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
Platform & Infrastructure Engineering
  • Design, build, and operate highscale backend services for Power Platform connection and credential management

  • Own core infrastructure that enables secure connectivity for Copilot agents, workflows, and applications

  • Build multitenant, highly available, lowlatency services used across Microsoft 365 and Power Platform

  • Drive architectural decisions for connection lifecycle, isolation, throttling, and resiliency

Security, Identity & Compliance
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization flows (Entra ID, OAuth, apponly and delegated access)

  • Ensure tenant isolation, leastprivilege access, and compliance with enterprise security requirements

  • Partner with security and compliance teams to meet privacy, data protection, and governance standards

  • Design systems that respect user permissions and organizational boundaries by default

Reliability & Operational Excellence
  • Build for production reliability: monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, and automated recovery

  • Participate in oncall rotations and lead incident mitigation and rootcause analysis

  • Continuously improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of the platform

Collaboration & Technical Leadership
  • Collaborate with Copilot, A365, Power Platform, and agent platform teams

  • Influence platform direction through design reviews and technical proposals

  • Mentor engineers and raise the bar on code quality, design, and engineering rigor

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, TypeScript, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with identity systems, OAuth flows, and credential management
  • Experience designing and operating RESTful APIs and servicetoservice communication
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure on Azure

  • Experience working in multitenant, enterprisescale distributed systems
  • Experience with Power Platform, Dataverse, or connectorbased architectures
  • Experience supporting AIpowered or agentbased systems is a plus
