Job description

The Molex Sales Team in Fremont is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to drive and deepen the relationship with key strategic datacom customers. In this role, you will provide technical expertise and customer-facing support while helping shape Molex's position in datacenter networking and AI applications. The Technical Sales Engineer will partner closely with the Account Management team to build mutually beneficial relationships with customers' Engineering, Global Supply Management, and Component Engineering teams. This person will collaborate cross-functionally to support the design-in of Molex products, lead internal discussions with design engineers and product managers, recommend interconnect systems and solutions, resolve mechanical design and application challenges related to high-speed products, and provide valuable insights into the competitive landscape, market trends, customer systems, and key processes.
This person will work closely with customer engineering and program development teams to support the delivery of high-value products while demonstrating a high level of customer service, responsiveness, and accountability. The Technical Sales Engineer will be expected to develop a strong understanding of the customer's business units, product roadmap, and evolving technology needs.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with component product knowledge and a good aptitude to drive conversations interconnect packaging/total solutions. We will provide the knowledge transfer and formal training in products and systems to enable this Technical Sales Engineer to be successful.
Molex is a top supplier to these customers for interconnects, cable assemblies, fiber optics and other products.
  • Provide innovative solutions to customer application opportunities utilizing the broad portfolio of Molex offerings
  • Lead projects with product management and product engineering teams for customer programs
  • Develop and maintain new engineering relationships in all of your assigned business units, and continually develop technical product skills to effectively sell a wide breadth of Molex offerings.
  • Manage focused business units at customer to achieve or surpass assigned revenue targets
  • Provide technical feedback to Customers and Account Management team including collateral (3D modeling, renderings, drawing, product specs)
  • Support current project initiatives by the Account Management Team
  • Track and document sales activity and pipeline in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
  • Find desirable revenue opportunities and present to Business Units for necessary support
  • Track and coordinate demand creation business transitioned to other parts of the world to assure Molex captures this business
  • Understanding this customer's individual strategic business plans for each applicable business unit
  • Development professional expertise by becoming a market and product expert

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related technical discipline
  • Sales/Account Management experience
  • Experience with Components, interconnect or related solutions
  • Experience working with OEM's that design in datacom products

For this role, we anticipate paying $110,000- $130,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form .
