Job description

GovCIO is currently hiring for Network Engineer, Data Center operations for our NIH-CIT proposal. This position is located in Bethesda, MD and is a remote/hybrid position.
Responsibilities
The role's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Support the Operations Section Manager with personnel administration, strategic planning, and staff planning. The Datacenter Operations Senior Engineer will work alongside the Service Delivery Team, Architecture Team, and Security Team to support their objectives
  • Mentor network operations engineers in the practical application of current/emergent technologies, agile IT, ITIL and continuous improvement practices and techniques
  • Participate in shift lead duties to serve as "queue managers" to ensure each escalated issue is efficiently assigned, actively being worked by expediting resolution and fulfillment to meet SLAs
  • Engage with the Sections to perform baselines of Data Center and Colocation systems using discovery tools such as ScienceLogic
  • Work with system owners to ensure understanding of services supported, update support documentation, and determine if hosted systems can be sunset to reclaim space, power, and cooling
  • Proactively monitor growth trends of hosted systems such as Biowulf supercomputer and work with Network Architecture and system owners to proactively recommend resource adjustments as part of our overall Capacity Planning approach to ensure availability of required resources

Qualifications
  • High School with CCIE (Data Center) certification and 5 years of equivalent Data Center operational experience OR CCNP (Data Center) certification and 10 years of equivalent Data Center operational experience.
  • Experience mentoring network operations engineers in the practical application of current/emergent technologies, agile IT, ITIL and continuous improvement practices and techniques
  • Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
