Description:

Anivas Tech is seeking a Sr. DBA (Senior Database Administrator) to support our government agency IT operations. We are looking for a skilled professional with 3+ years of relevant experience who brings strong technical expertise and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a mission-driven, high-visibility environment.

Requirements:
  • Administer, monitor, and optimize relational and/or NoSQL database environments supporting government agency applications
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning to ensure system availability and efficiency
  • Manage database security including user access controls, encryption, and audit logging in compliance with federal standards
  • Lead database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and testing activities
  • Support database migrations, version upgrades, and patch management in coordination with application and infrastructure teams
  • Develop and enforce database standards, naming conventions, and change management procedures
  • Collaborate with developers and data engineers to review and optimize schema designs and data access patterns
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents in production, including on-call support as required
  • Document database configurations, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBA staff and participate in knowledge-sharing activities
  • US citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; 5 additional years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • 3+ years of experience as a database administrator in a production environment
  • Proficiency in SQL and strong experience with one or more RDBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL)
  • Experience with database performance monitoring, tuning, and query optimization
  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies (replication, clustering, failover)
  • Understanding of database security principles and access control frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex database issues under pressure
  • Experience in a federal government or highly regulated IT environment
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, or GCP Cloud SQL)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB)
  • Agile or SAFe delivery methodology experience
  • Relevant certifications (Oracle OCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Database Specialty)
