Job description

The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining the integrity, security, and availability of databases. This role supports Oracle, SQL Server, and SYBASE environments, ensuring compliance with business requirements and peak system performance.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Administering, maintaining, and implementing policies for database security and integrity.
  • Organizing and formatting data for efficient queries and storage.
  • Establishing and maintaining user accounts.
  • Performing disaster recovery, performance tuning, index maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Supporting data modeling activities and prototype database implementations.
  • Installing DBMSs, databases, tables, and views.
  • Directing monitoring, administration, and optimization of database systems, including index and structure redesign.
  • Coordinating architecture changes with Database Engineers.
  • Evaluating requirements and recommending appropriate DBMS products.
  • Overseeing use of current and emerging database tools, strategies, and technologies.

Requirements
Experience: Minimum 10 years in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity; at least 5 years administering Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant IT discipline (or equivalent experience, if specified by program).
Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (or higher).
