IES Commercial, Inc. - DBA IES Electrical, seeking full-time Assistant Project Manager-Data Center, in Herndon, Virginia.    

Job Summary

Assists Project Manager with overall management and coordination of one or more construction projects in delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with company standards and client expectations.

  • Assists with planning, organizing, and staffing key field positions in coordination with regional department heads, superintendents, and construction managers
  • Supports the establishment and implementation of project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate guidelines
  • Maintains regular communication with clients, architects/engineers (A/E), vendors, and subcontractors to help facilitate project progress
  • Monitors construction progress through coordination with the on-site Superintendent to help ensure project is delivered on schedule and within budget
  • Assists in identifying potential project issues and participates in developing and implementing corrective action plans
  • Represents company in project meetings as needed and supports labor planning and coordination efforts
  • Supports management in financial aspects of the project including tracking costs, reviewing invoices, monitoring equipment rentals, and assisting with project forecasting to protect company interests
  • Maintains project documentation including submittals, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, and progress reports
  • Assists with procurement of materials and subcontractors in alignment with project schedules
  • Promotes and supports company safety policies and procedures on all projects
  • Performs additional responsibilities as directed by project management or corporate leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree engineering, construction management, or related degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 to 5 years recent experience in construction processes, design coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and project administration.
  • Proficient computer (Outlook, Microsoft, WORD, EXCEL) and construction management software skills.
  • Ability to use and apply effective organizational and management techniques to support project success.
  • Understanding corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards, and related impact on project activities.
  • Strong communication (oral/written) and interpersonal relationship skills including professionalism, diplomacy, and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check and MVR check, and as applicable drug testing.
