Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead – Brownfield Projects to join a dynamic brownfield project team. This role is responsible for delivering a consistent and comprehensive suite of project controls services, including estimating, scheduling, cost management, and risk reporting for brownfield project scopes. This position works closely with project specialists and contractors to develop project baselines, produce forecasts, and support effective project control through reporting and validation of contractor outputs.


Key Responsibilities

Project Controls & Delivery

  • Lead and manage the full suite of project controls services: estimates, schedules, costs, and risk reporting
  • Support project specialists in establishing and maintaining project baselines
  • Develop forecasts and monitor project performance against approved baselines
  • Review and validate contractor reports


Cost Estimation

  • Review contractor-developed estimates for accuracy and completeness
  • Develop and maintain benchmarking databases to challenge contractor proposals
  • Prepare independent estimates as required


Cost Control & Reporting

  • Support contractors by defining clear weekly and monthly reporting requirements
  • Assist in month-end processes, including VOWD and EAC development
  • Contribute to internal portfolio progress reporting
  • Ensure cost control processes are effective and consistent


Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop Level 1, 2, and 3 schedules using MS Project or Primavera
  • Integrate contractor and vendor inputs into schedules
  • Challenge contractor schedules to ensure realism and alignment


Procurement & Systems Support

  • Process purchase requisitions
  • Support project teams in managing SAP accounts
  • Close purchase orders and FI networks as requested


Leadership & Collaboration

  • Foster a strong One Team culture through collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and contractors
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Influence stakeholders and ensure adherence to processes and policies
  • Drive execution and continuously improve performance
  • Navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions in dynamic environments
  • Promote innovation and process improvement (including digitization initiatives)
  • Champion diversity and inclusion across teams


What You Bring

  • Proven experience in project controls, with a focus on estimating and cost control
  • Strong passion for benchmarking and data-driven decision-making
  • Proficiency in MS Project and/or Primavera
  • TA3 certification in estimating (preferred)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively while confidently challenging assumptions
