Job description

Job Overview The Mortgage Loan Officer Producing Team Manager is responsible for driving residential lending sales through the management of a team of mortgage loan officers. The role increases mortgage production while adhering to credit union policies, ethical standards, and the member's best interest. The manager also originates residential mortgage loans, following internal, regulatory, and secondary market guidelines. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Manages an MLO staff to lead the identification of business opportunities, develop the existing customer base, and initiate new client relationships to expand the organization's residential lending relationships. Manages and supports interaction with Branch managers to develop relationships. Helps develop scripting and trains on quality mortgage referrals. Helps train on providing the best possible member experience for existing and new members. Ensures team meets production goals and adheres to all regulatory and internal policies and procedures. Coaches, develops, and inspires staff to maximize potential. Continually develops and maintains specialized knowledge of all residential lending products. Ensures staff has the appropriate resources and training to compete in the marketplace. Responds to customer inquiries and referrals generated from personal contacts and other Truliant business channels. Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determine financing objectives, advise borrowers of product/pricing policies, and gather additional required information. Maintains thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure exceptional member service and compliance with HMDA. Develops and maintains successful relationships with business referral sources, using marketing, cold‐calling, prospecting, and networking activities. Utilizes Truliant training materials, reference tools, and other resources to provide accurate loan program/policy information to external members and internal business partners. Provides complete loan applications to fulfillment center partners. Oversees the loan process from origination to close, providing ongoing communication to members and business partners. Ensures successful completion of all assigned Mortgage Loan Officer Training activities. Participates in community efforts to promote home ownership. Presents appropriate Truliant products and programs, explaining guidelines. Works with Mortgage Processor, Underwriter, and all other Mortgage Staff to ensure loan documents are submitted to processing within 7 days or as modified by the credit union. Works with Mortgage Processors to ensure loan conditions are met. Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Sound understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations, and compliance within the loan origination environment. Thorough knowledge of first and second mortgage real estate lending, including processing, underwriting, and closing procedures. Knowledge of insurance products and underwriting guidelines to ensure loans are insurable. Demonstrated success in prospecting, generating leads, closing business, and consistently meeting/exceeding production goals. Broad knowledge of all aspects of the mortgage industry, including secondary market concepts, practices, and underwriting guidelines. Ability to lead a sales team to achieve goals and objectives. Ability to recognize and focus on critical issues while balancing competing needs within the organization. Verifiable, established network of referral business, including Real Estate professionals and other centers of influence. Strong computer skills, including knowledge of MS applications and database management. Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial data and provide financial alternatives. Professionalism and effective interpersonal skills. Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written. Understanding of all business processes within the Credit Union. Requirement to be bonded. Detail‐oriented and well organized. Ability to work in a general office environment. Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision. Commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant members. Physical Requirements Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Ability to sit at a desk for long periods and use a computer. Ability to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Occasional travel required between Branches. Education and Background Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field; preferred. 5+ years of previous mortgage experience; required.
