Summary

The Visual Database Engineer provides technicalexpertiseto support the Engineering team in designing, developing, testing, andmaintainingrealtime visual and 3D databases used in C17 Training Systems (TS). This role performs full lifecycle development of 3D models and terrain environments for simulation and mission rehearsal applications. Responsibilities include generating new database designs,modifyingexisting visual and RADAR databases, supporting softwareinstallationand testing, and ensuring that all products meet established standards for accuracy, performance, and reliability. The Visual Database Engineer collaborates closely with Test Engineers, Pilot Instructors, and Subject Matter Experts tovalidatedesign implementation and ensure seamless integration within the training system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design,modify, develop, and implement visual database applications used for simulation and training.

  • Design,modify, develop, and implement RADAR database applications.

  • Support and install software applications and operating systems necessary for database integration.

  • Participate in testing activities including review, analysis,witnessing, and certification of software.

  • Apply knowledge of commonly used engineering and development concepts, standards, processes, and procedures.

  • Follow established instructions and guidelines to perform responsibilities efficiently and accurately.

  • Generate preliminary and detailed design documents for enhancements or modifications using current industry concepts and technical writing skills.

  • Coordinate closely with the Training System Support Center (TSSC) Engineering group to enable smooth implementation throughout all phases of visual database development.

  • Work collaboratively with Test Engineers, Pilot Instructors, and SMEs to analyze, evaluate, andvalidatedatabase design accuracy and usability.

  • Participate in weekly and monthly meetings, including teleconference sessions, providing regular updates on project status and progress to management and customers.

  • Foster a positive, teamoriented environment andmaintaineffective communication with peers, internal stakeholders, and external customers.

  • Provide technical support related to C17 visual database systems and associated tools.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or a minimum of eight years of related experience.

  • Minimum of four years of experience in visual database development or a related technical field.

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience designing visual databases for simulation or training applications.

  • Familiarity with terrain generation tools and 3D modeling techniques.

  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating design options andidentifyingoptimization opportunities.

  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into detailed visual database designs.

  • Strong documentation skills for producing technical design artifacts and implementation notes.

Security Responsibilities

Mustcomplywithall company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

  • Work may be performed in office environments, simulator facilities, or computer rooms.

  • May require working near or around flight simulation equipment and computer systems.

  • Must be able to climb and use stairs.
