STRUCTURAL is the open shop contracting business line of Structural Group.
We are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to develop new and strengthen existing client relationships throughout the Midwest region of the US. This position will be primarily based in the Midwest, ideally Omaha, Kansas City, or Wichita and will work remotely in the region but will be a part of our Chicago branch family. This role will require regular travel throughout the Midwest region and travel to the Chicago office.
As a Business Development Manager, you will be accountable for bringing the specialty capabilities of STRUCTURAL to the Industrial market. Construction projects within the Industrial market include but are not limited to structural strengthening, structural concrete repair, steel repair, waterproofing, soil stabilization and strengthening and corrosion control. You will collaborate with our Technologies and Operations teams to develop solutions that tackle the toughest construction challenges and meet the needs of our valued customers.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for:
  • Supporting Structural Technologies and Construction divisions by performing sales functions on high-value projects in the food and beverage, chemical plants, and other industrial facilities.
  • Foster existing client relationships and develop new relationships to meet financial goals.
  • After receiving appropriate training, give presentations to potential clients on our Infrastructure Maintenance solutions and work with Construction divisions and Technologies to follow up on feedback and inquiries that arise from presentations.
  • Actively participate in industry events and present at tradeshows as appropriate.
  • Participate in web-based meetings, in-person meetings, emails, and phone calls with Company's current, assigned and potential clients as needed.
  • Follow up, pursue, and communicate information on project and client leads provided by the Inside Sales team.
  • Assist with drafting proposals for Industrial Infrastructure Maintenance projects and necessary revisions.
  • Assist with assembly of bid packages for Strengthening projects as necessary or requested.
  • Attend jobsite walks and pre-bid meetings as needed.
  • Participate in project review calls and maintain up to date CRM database powered by Salesforce for Industrial projects.
  • Update the existing company contact databases with new contacts obtained from presentations, meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Work with the Structural Group's marketing resources to help develop this database and reach out to key targets.

Successful candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this exciting opportunity:
  • Candidates who possess a bachelor's degree may be given preference
  • Some sales experience desired, building relationships, and expanding a client base in the industrial markets. Preferably selling specialty construction services or products / services to end users.
  • Strong knowledge of the Midwest region's Industrial Client base including food and beverage facilities, chemical plants, and other industrial sites.
  • Self-starter with high energy
  • Track record of success meeting or exceeding sales goals/quotas utilizing a CRM system
  • Strong understanding of process is required to promote and implement engineered services and products through a complex and extended sales cycle, typically for existing structures.
  • Capable of learning and sharing information on engineered products, their functions, applicability, and standards along with understanding of proposal development.
  • Travel within the Midwest region 80% of the time.
