Software Engineer III - Business Intelligence/Database Development

Summary:
We are seeking a Software Engineer III with strong Business Intelligence (BI) and database development experience to design, develop, implement, and support enterprise-scale BI and data solutions. The ideal candidate will have full-stack software engineering experience with a strong background in BI development, data modeling, database design, ETL, data analysis, and reporting. This role requires the ability to translate business requirements and technical specifications into scalable BI solutions while incorporating web accessibility, data security, and authentication standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with data architects, data scientists, project managers, BI teams, data quality teams, and cybersecurity professionals throughout the software development lifecycle.

Salary up to $170K, depending on qualifications, including relevant certifications, education, years of experience, and demonstrated experience supporting Federal Government programs within the field. Candidates with specialized expertise, industry-recognized certifications, and strong Federal contracting experience may be considered at the higher end of the range.

Washington, DC or Gaithersburg, MD

Clearance:
DOE L Clearance or Active Secret Clearance (or equivalent) required

Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-stack software engineering experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Business Intelligence Developer implementing end-to-end deployments of enterprise-scale BI solutions.
  • Experience analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and supporting BI solutions based on business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Experience integrating web accessibility, data security, and authentication standards into BI and web-based solutions.
  • Experience designing queries to support data analysis and information requests.
  • Experience analyzing existing queries and stand-alone reports to identify commonalities and consolidate them into appropriate BI models and structures.
  • Experience designing and developing logical and physical data models and frameworks to support reporting applications.
  • Experience analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, and quality issues using statistical and analytical techniques and tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting BI issues and developing solutions using complex code and data warehouse architectures.
  • Experience with BI platforms and analytical tools such as MicroStrategy or similar technologies.
  • Database development experience, including data modeling, database design, development, implementation, and administration.
  • Experience ensuring database performance and validating user and non-functional requirements.
  • Experience developing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to support organizational data warehouse, reporting, and analysis activities.
  • Experience diagnosing and debugging operational issues for new and existing web applications.
  • Experience collaborating with data architects, data scientists, project managers, BI teams, data quality management teams, and cybersecurity teams.
  • Experience supporting the software development lifecycle, including automated testing, technical documentation, code versioning, change management, release management, and configuration management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
