Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Database Developer to join a collaborative team of database developers and administrators supporting a large, complex application development program. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining database structures, as well as managing and optimizing data within enterprise-scale environments.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, Agile environment while expanding expertise across modern data platforms, cloud technologies, and advanced data engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain database structures to support application development initiatives
  • Create, modify, and optimize complex SQL queries in high-volume, complex data environments
  • Perform data profiling, cleansing, transformation, and reporting activities
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes and data staging solutions
  • Write and manage DDL, DML, and DCL statements to support database operations
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and implement query tuning and optimization strategies
  • Support data migration, validation, and pipeline development within AWS environments
  • Develop automation scripts using Python to support database and data processing tasks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to design data solutions within technical and business constraints
  • Utilize version control tools (e.g., Git) to manage code and database changes
  • Monitor and support system performance using tools such as CloudWatch, Kibana, and Dynatrace
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to improve data solutions

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in database development roles

Required Skills:
  • Strong experience with: Data profiling, cleansing, and ETL processes, writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, query tuning and performance optimization, and database programming (DDL, DML, DCL).
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database development
  • Experience developing Python scripts for automation or data processing
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems
  • Working knowledge of AWS services, including Data migration and validation, data pipelines, monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Kibana, Dynatrace).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and clients

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with database administration (DBA) functions
  • Experience working in Agile environments and using tools such as Jira
  • Willingness and ability to learn DB2 if not currently proficient

Security Clearance:
  • Willing and eligible to obtain a CBP public Trust.
