Job description

Overview
The Application Engineering Intern will be reporting to the Manager, Application Engineering and will assist the AE team in technical and commercial-related projects such as optimization and development of estimation and other tools used by the AE Department as well as various tasks to help the department work. The intern will need strong knowledge of working in Microsoft Excel & Access and be able to acquire understanding of proprietary tools and software programs used by the company.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the AE Manager and team with tasks for quotations and department processes.
  • Review technical documents for consistency and optimize the company's database of its equipment records.
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting Microsoft Excel tools of cost analysis and engineering calculations.
  • Reviewing projects and quotes and organizing electronic files.
  • Supporting the AE team with research of product costing from the company's accounting system.
  • Research and develop costing of the products for the commercial offering.
  • Preparation of quotations once evaluated skills are achieved.
  • Assist other departments in small projects that impact the AE department.

Qualifications
Education
Enrolled Engineering student focused on Mechanical or Chemical field. Good understanding of engines, pumps, and other rotating equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed and well-organized.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to pick up tasks as directed.
  • MS Office proficiency, specifically skilled in MS Excel (using/programming macros and VBA) and strong understanding of databases.
  • Ability to learn other software environments quickly.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment with a fast-paced tempo of business.
This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Will be visiting the company's shop/manufacturing and testing facilities when needed.
