Position Purpose

 The BI/Data Warehousing Analyst III assists in the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise data solutions to support hospital operations and home office business processes.  This work is done using various database platforms with a primary emphasis on SQL using the Oracle Database platform and PL/SQL development.  This position develops and supports business intelligence and data visualization platforms with a primary focus using Qlik tools to help enable self-service analytics, dashboards, and data discovery capabilities. This position also supports the organization's continued evolution toward modern analytics and AI-enabled data platforms.

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS 

  • Demonstrates agility and adaptability to respond to a highly fluid development environment as business needs change.

  • Periodic on-call support is required.

  • Designs, builds, configures, and tests database and data warehouse solutions.

  • Supports the organization's continued evolution toward modern analytics and AI-enabled data platforms.

  • Develops and maintains Oracle SQL and PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, views, indexes, and functions.

  • Assists with database modeling, schema design, and data validation.

  • Supports performance tuning and query optimization.

  • Reviews data for accuracy and assists in troubleshooting data and reporting issues.

  • Develops and supports BI dashboards, reports, and analytics applications using BI tools.

  • Participates in testing processes, including data verification and reconciliation.

  • Supports system deployment and post-deployment validation.

  • Creates and maintains technical, procedural, and end-user documentation.

  • Assists in end-user training and knowledge transfer activities.

  • Keeps current with industry trends related to Oracle, SQL, analytics, BI tools, and data platforms.

  • Collaborates with team members to share best practices and promote consistency.

  • Completes special projects and other duties as requested.

  • This position must sit at our Home Office in Birmingham, AL  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, MIS, CIS and 5+ years relevant experience in any of the following: business intelligence, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data warehousing, analytics, large-scale database management or related field. This experience may include internships, co-ops, entry-level professional experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible, directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge and skills comparable to those obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree in a related specialty.

  • Familiar with:

  • DW developers will have prerequisite technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Oracle Database Platform

  • MS SQL Server Database Platform

  • SQL/PL/SQL/Transact-SQL

  • Light Unix Shell Scripting

  • Light MS Batch Scripting

  • Light Python Scripting

  • Performance tuning

  • Query optimization

  • Stored Procedures, views, indexes, and constraints

  • Database modeling and design

  • Data validation

  • Vector Database Technologies

  • Machine Learning modeling

  • BI Developer requirements (Candidates are not expected to have expertise in all listed technologies; depth in one or more primary areas is sufficient.):

  • BI developers will have prerequisite technical knowledge in one or more of the following technologies:

  • Oracle Fusion products such as EPBCS, BI Publisher, OTBI, Reports

  • Oracle Database Platform

  • MS SQL Server Database Platform

  • Qlik, Tableau, Power BI or other BI technologies

  • BI developers will have prerequisite technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • User Interface design

  • OLAP design

  • OLTP design

  • Cube design

  • Process re-engineering

  • ETL

  • Machine Learning modeling

  • AI/LLM integration with BI tools

  • Other Preferred (not required) skills - Plus Factors

  • Oracle Vector or AI-Enabled features within the Oracle ecosystem

  • Palantir Foundry ecosystem 

  • General exposure to AI, Machine Learning, or advanced analytics technologies

  • Understanding of modern cloud technology or hybrid data architectures
