Also known as a Client Solutions Consultant, this position provides unique visibility internally and the opportunity to make a difference to our members by helping clients align benefits to best support their members. Ideal candidates are skilled consultants who can effectively lead discussions to help their clients/stakeholders identify issues, understand root cause, and collaborate with others to problem solve and create solutions. They're creative in approach and are masters at communicating effectively to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders and clients.  

In this role, you'll develop and deliver integrated comprehensive reports and analyses to internal stakeholders, members, and employer groups.  You will leverage utilization, financial, clinical, and benchmark data from multiple internal and external sources. You'll provide actionable, strategic recommendations to stakeholders (customers, brokers, and members) while adhering to established data governance standards and processes. In addition, you'll serve as an instrumental part of teams focused on developing strategies for reducing the rate of increase in medical spend and trend in specific employer group customer populations. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • 4+ years of Insurance, Financial Services, or similar corporate experience, including:
    • Interpretation of cost trends, financial and/or clinical data, and assessment of benchmark data involving large, complex datasets.
    • Report writing/analysis and data visualization. Technical proficiency with tools such as: Power BI, Business Objects, SAS, SQL.
  • Senior-level requirements:
    • 7+ years of Insurance, Financial Services, or similar corporate experience, including:
      • Advanced interpretation of cost trends, financial and/or clinical data, and assessment of benchmark data involving large, complex datasets. Development and delivery of recommendations to key/senior decision makers.
      • Report writing/analysis and data visualization. Technical proficiency with tools such as: Power BI, Business Objects, SAS, SQL.
      • Ability to serve as business owner and subject matter expert.
  • Highly effective analytical skills, business intuition, and demonstrated proficiency in distilling large amounts of information into the most relevant insights.
  • Consultative skills demonstrated by the ability to make recommendations to stakeholders, members, key employer groups and/or providers regarding benefit designs, product offerings, and clinical/wellness programs. Balances subject matter expertise and business acumen with strong understanding of the customer.
  • Ability to manage customer relationships, including effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills and the ability to influence others to achieve business results.
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders, decision-makers and internal staff based on competence, trust, and mutual respect.
  • Proven ability to be highly detail oriented.
  • Travel required between 20-30%.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or a related quantitative discipline - e.g., Finance, Accounting.
  • Health insurance, health care, or related industry experience, including understanding of delivery systems, managed care concepts, reimbursement, contracting, claims processing and/or medical policy.
Additional Information

a. Support the Account Management team in creating and maintaining client relationships with representatives of Wellmark's large and national account groups by developing hypothesis-driven analyses in response to client questions or opportunities identified in collaboration within the team and key stakeholders.   

b. Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop consulting tools that express Wellmark's value proposition. Serve as an instrumental of cross functional teams with sales, Product, care management, network, etc. with a focus on developing structured approaches to break down complex problems into specific components and coordinating delivery across multiple groups.

c. Be curious about information and how to use it creatively. In addition to deepening knowledge of our core claims data, expand to understand new data opportunities (ex: Jiva, Customer Service or information on analytics tool bench). Have the technical skills to begin to explore this information and identify opportunities to apply it for client insight.

d. Assist in the development and expansion of more modern consulting presentations to clients.  Evaluate current reports and leverage technical expertise to develop approaches for automating and improving team efficiency.

e. Support development of consulting modules by assisting in the creation of consulting frameworks, developing visualizations, obtaining cross functional input, and creating prototypes.

f. Support stakeholders in monitoring progress towards goals by demonstrating the comprehensive impact of recommendations (i.e., illustrate and explain results of Return on Investment and/or program evaluation analyses). Drive to solutions and business impacts in all work to consistently highlight Wellmark's value proposition.

g. Collaborate closely with the Analytics team to develop requirements and initial data views that can be used as a proof of concept to build towards scalable reporting solutions that can be leveraged broadly across accounts.

h. Leverage knowledge of data and technical reporting skills to identify opportunities to bring forward new information to client meetings. Provide input into future state reporting /analysis needs. 

i. Monitor and research healthcare activities and trends overall and with a specific emphasis on reporting/analytics implications and opportunities. Collaborate closely with Product, Segment and Competitive Intelligence teams.

j. Support client driven, ad-hoc inquiries. Leverage knowledge of data, client strategies and reporting tools to identify opportunities where we can deliver automated solutions that increase scope of information available to our key account teams.

k. Other duties as assigned.
