GS-12 Level:
  • In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11 for GS-12) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

GS-12 Specialized Experience Is Defined As:
  • (1) Demonstrating analytical, planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work that has as its principal purpose the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, standards, training and methods related to at least three of the following force protection program types: Antiterrorism, Operations Security, Physical Security, Insider Threat, or Information Security.
  • (2) Demonstrates advanced technical proficiency in critical security information systems, database management, and data analytics tools to identify, track, and mitigate complex organizational risks. Highly skilled in utilizing enterprise-level threat detection software and predictive analytics tools to synthesize raw data from disparate force protection sources into actionable intelligence. Proficient in employing advanced data visualization applications (such as Tableau or Power BI)
  • (3) And spreadsheet modeling to compile, track, and report on key program metrics, risk assessments, and compliance postures. Proven capability in navigating and managing complex government and agency-specific information infrastructures to safeguard critical assets against both deliberative and unintentional threats.

As such, the individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Individuals who do not meet the applicable SPeD certification requirements must obtain it within two years after the first duty day in this position. Upon appointment to this position, the selectee must also sign a statement acknowledging the SFPC requirements, as a condition to occupy the position, and agree to permit the DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this position.
