Job description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Data Scientist to join our team at Offutt Air Force Base (AFB), supporting the 55th Wing (55 WG). The Data Scientist will play a critical role in leveraging advanced data analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to support Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations. This position requires expertise in data science methodologies, tools, and technologies to extract actionable insights from complex datasets and enhance mission effectiveness. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement data science solutions to support ISR operations and decision-making processes. 
  • Determine, create and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.   
  • Apply machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics to solve mission-critical challenges. 
  • Design and maintain data pipelines, ensuring the efficient collection, processing, and storage of structured and unstructured data. 
  • Identify and address data quality issues, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of analytical outputs. 
  • Stay current with emerging data science technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance analytical capabilities. 
  • Ensure compliance with all security protocols, classification guidelines, and organizational policies. 
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education / Experience: Min of 16 years w/o a degree or 14 years with AS/A or min 12 years with BS/BA degree or 10 years with MS/MA degree or 8 years with Phd
  • Technical Expertise: 
  • Proficiency in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including ETL processes and database management. 
  • Skills: 
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for producing reports and presenting findings. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. 
  • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting the 55th Wing (55 WG) or similar ISR organizations.  
  • Knowledge of ISR operations and intelligence data sources.  
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.  
  • DOD 8140 compliance based on DCWF code 423 Advanced level
  • Certifications such as Certified Data Scientist (CDS), AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, or equivalent.  
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.
  • Education: Master's degree from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or have a bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and an additional 5 years of related expert experience, for a total of 20 years, as a substitute to the master's degree.

Target Salary Range$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
