SUMMARY:

The Mortgage Servicing Transfer Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing the transfer of residential mortgage loans into and out of the servicing portfolio. This position ensures all servicing transfer activities are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with investor, regulatory, and company requirements. The specialist serves as a liaison between Internal Departments, Sub-servicers, Investors, and External Business Partners to facilitate seamless servicing transfers and minimize operational risk.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Coordinate all activities related to onboarding and deboarding residential mortgage servicing portfolios.
  • Manage the transfer process from initial due diligence through post-transfer reconciliation and certification.
  • Review and validate loan data, collateral files, escrow balances, payment histories, and investor reporting information.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including CFPB, RESPA, FDCPA, and investor guidelines such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute borrower notifications and transfer communications in accordance with regulatory timelines.
  • Reconcile transferred loan data, escrow accounts, and custodial balances to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve transfer discrepancies, data exceptions, and system issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subservicers, investors, and internal business units to ensure successful transfer execution.
  • Monitor project timelines and maintain detailed documentation of transfer activities.
  • Participate in testing and implementation of servicing system enhancements and process improvements.
  • Prepare reports and provide status updates to management regarding transfer milestones and outstanding issues.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and controls related to servicing transfer activities.
  • Support and assist Special Loans department with day to day activities and functions when transfer duties have been completed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Required

  • Thorough knowledge of first mortgage real estate lending practices, including federal regulatory requirements, state regulations, agency and credit union requirements.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to provide cordial customer service regardless of customer personality, presence or communication style
  • Ability to work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors, and any other person or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals 
  • Basic Excel, MS Office

Preferred

  • Ability to research loan documents, analyze their meaning, and determine appropriate action
  • Experience with Sagent LoanServ servicing platform
  • Experience with FNMA, GNMA and FHLMC guidelines. RESPA and CFPB Regulations

COMPENSATION: $23.06 - $32.12 per hour

The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
