The Opportunity
This position is responsible for IT Business Relationship Management (BRM) for Core Diagnostic's Data Strategy & Governance functions. This role will work directly with business clients to understand the data landscape and translate needs into IT opportunities, focusing on breaking down data silos and contributing to a shared data-oriented culture that is transparent, accessible, and drives business results. Additionally, they will 1) ensure data is used and managed in compliance with statutes, regulations, and professional standards, 2) support the ethical use, publication, and consumption of data, and 3) promote allowable democratization of trusted data securely across Abbott and partner organizations to further Abbott strategic objectives.
This role will partner with the Core Diagnostics organization to meet strategic objectives across data platform management, standard reporting & analytics, AI & machine learning. This role will work across Core Diagnostics business stakeholders, cross-divisionally, with Abbott corporate stakeholders, and in collaboration with IT delivery teams.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Understand people, processes, and technologies required for data use, ethics, and governance objectives, standard reporting and analytics governance, big data and advanced analytics capability management, data platform, privacy, and application lifecycle strategy.
  • Influences and partners with businesses to understand business strategy and maintains an active portfolio roadmap ($1M - $15MM) tied to an investment schedule. Interacts regularly with business leadership to ensure needs are understood and IT updates are communicated consistently.
  • Understands and contributes to the business strategy and translates it into an aligned IT strategy and portfolio of programs, projects, and applications.
  • Manage initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures. Resolve issues raised to the governance committees of projects and ensure projects stay in scope.
  • Proactively reviews business processes; elicits, analyzes, and documents business requirements; identifies alternative solutions; assesses feasibility; and makes recommendations typically seeking to exploit and leverage new or existing IT technology components.
  • Champions change and innovation. Stimulates creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas.
  • Manages IT budgets, project capital/RCE expenditures and ROI. Continually looks for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance.
  • Responsible for all aspects of people leadership and capacity planning.
  • Manage issues, risks and decision making within effective timeframe and outcome.
  • Manage conflict, prioritize, and negotiate with Business and IT stakeholders.
  • Establishes and maintains productive relationships across all levels within the Abbott IT organization and external suppliers.
  • Constant awareness of corporate IT standards, technology trends, evolving regulatory requirements and their applicability to the business process and IT portfolio, and influences the IT stakeholders and partners in addressing these evolutions in the most efficient way.
  • Primary point of contact to represent and lead workstreams on divisional and pan-Abbott governance and standards teams serving as a data governance subject matter expert. Advise business unit(s) about similar strategies employed by other healthcare companies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, business administration, engineering, or another discipline relevant to the Healthcare industry.
  • 8-10 years of IT or Data Analytics experience in large or mid-sized multinational Pharmaceutical or Health Care organizations.
  • Understanding data, analytics, and AI technologies sufficient to guide strategy, investment decisions, and technical governance including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, cloud services, data lakes & warehouses, Power BI, etc.
  • Experience defining and implementing data management practices such as data modernization programs, records management & retention, master data, data governance, data quality, data privacy, and data mesh principles.
  • Experience with defining, implementing, and orchestrating data governance, data products, and data stewardship in a large or midsized, multinational company preferred.
  • Experience leading teams - both with direct and indirect responsibility.
  • Experience in setting data & IT strategy and business-IT alignment.
  • Successfully managed project portfolio with projects ranging from $1M-$15MM.
  • Proven experience and understanding of the complete software life cycle, including privacy and security aspects.
  • Experience with vendor management.
  • Ability to collaborate with business leads, understand business strategy/processes, and look for innovative solutions to drive business enhancements for internal business users and external customers.
  • Work effectively with all levels of management up to and including Division Directors and VPs.
  • Ability to collaborate with business leaders across all business functions, understand business strategy/processes, look for innovative solutions to drive business value both for internal business users and external customers.
  • Experience facilitating data governance committees a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven leadership skills, self-directed with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task across multiple programs successfully.
