Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Clinical Laboratory Scientist Intern (Student) / Medical Technologist Intern (Student), you will embark on a critical learning journey within a dynamic laboratory environment. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. You will be instrumental in supporting high-level customer satisfaction through cost-effective and respectful service. Under the guidance of the Laboratory Director, Director of Laboratory Services, Laboratory Supervisor, and Laboratory Medical Staff, you will engage in tasks that directly contribute to accurate and timely diagnostic services, adhering to stringent laboratory regulations and quality assurance protocols. This role offers invaluable hands-on experience for aspiring laboratory professionals.

Every day, you will perform a variety of essential laboratory tasks, including analyzing patient samples using standardized procedures for moderate and high complexity testing, as defined by 42 CFR 493.1425 and 42 CFR 493.1495. You will meticulously record and accurately transmit results to requesting physicians using established laboratory information systems. Your responsibilities will further include gaining proficiency in various laboratory sections, understanding instruments, and contributing to the overall efficiency of laboratory operations. This direct involvement ensures the delivery of reliable diagnostic data critical for patient care.

To be successful in this role:

  • You will need a strong commitment to precision and attention to detail. Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. required and will be graduating from a CLS-approved CLS training program within one year.
  • Continuing education lectures and courses to keep knowledge current as required.
  • Enrolled in the CLS Training program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. 
  • Training in Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Immunology, and Serology as applicable.
  • California Clinical Laboratory Scientist Trainee License required. 
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist Interns must successfully pass the ASCP or AAB certifying program for the California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License within six (6) months of graduating from a California-approved CLS training program.
  • Fire Safety card (must obtain within 90 days of start date) required.
