The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine invites applications for a physician-scientist faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank, commensurate with qualifications and experience. We seek outstanding candidates who have established, or demonstrate strong potential for establishing, an innovative and impactful independent research program that advances digestive health.
This position is designed for a physician-scientist committed to pursuing a career that integrates scientific discovery, patient care, education, and academic leadership. Successful candidates will receive protected research time, competitive startup support, and access to extensive institutional resources to foster a thriving research program.
About the Division
The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition is nationally recognized for excellence in clinical care, education, and research. Faculty provide care across a broad spectrum of digestive and liver diseases and participate in the training of medical students, residents, fellows, and postdoctoral trainees. The division supports a strong culture of collaboration, mentorship, innovation, and professional development.
Faculty physicians and scientists have opportunities to engage in a rich multidisciplinary research environment that spans basic, translational, clinical, implementation, and population sciences. Areas of existing strength include, but are not limited to:

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Utah

  • Record of scholarly publication appropriate to career stage
