Job description

HOF Capital is a global multi-stage venture capital (VC) firm that partners with the world's best founders and helps them build generational category-defining technology companies. Since launching its first fund in 2016, HOF Capital has achieved top-tier performance and invested in some of the most successful technology startups of the past decade (e.g., SpaceX, Anthropic, OpenAI, Neuralink, xAI, etc.), enabling HOF Capital to grow rapidly to $10B+ of assets under management (AUM) and making HOF Capital one of the fastest-growing VC firms in history.

Due to this rapid growth, HOF Capital is seeking a world-class data scientist to join its team. This Data Scientist / Researcher will collaborate closely with other HOF Capital team members to provide the firm and its portfolio companies with important data-driven insights and to produce high-quality research content that will help drive HOF Capital’s impact on the broader tech industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with investment sourcing by: (1) building data pipelines and machine learning models that enable the scalable evaluation & monitoring of millions of tech companies, tech products, open-source frameworks, and tech talent, in order to identify the most promising ones; and (2) conducting data-driven research & analyses on future market opportunities, in order to identify the most promising ones.
  • Assist with investment due diligence by: (1) collecting the data needed for accurate market & competitive analyses; (2) using raw data dumps from prospective portfolio companies to independently calculate important metrics; and (3) contributing to the technical / product, customer, & competitive due diligence for any investment opportunities related to data science and related fields.
  • Assisting with portfolio company value-add by: (1) maintaining a centralized database of important metrics for each portfolio company; (2) providing portfolio companies with benchmark data to help them identify opportunities for improvement; and (3) advising earlier-stage portfolio companies on the build-out of their data tech stack and data-driven culture.
  • Assisting with thought leadership by authoring high-quality data-driven research content that positions HOF Capital as a thought leader in the tech industry.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years of previous full-time work experience as a product-focused data scientist or similar role.
  • Graduated from or currently enrolled at a top-tier university, ideally with a degree or major related to data science.
  • Strong English writing & communication skills.
  • Excellent professional & academic performance.
  • Independent thinker with outstanding intellectual & analytical aptitude.
  • Extremely capable, disciplined, responsible, hard-working, detail-oriented, conscientious, and self-motivated.
