Tasks of Position
The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.
  • Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safety perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service.
  • Promoting sales and exceptional service through active discussions with guests, discussing current promotions and service information while on the sales floor or in the check stand. (Examples while on the sales floor may include: notifying grocery manger to order products for special requests, informing guests of special deals on case orders, locating products for guests throughout the store). (Examples while in the check stand may include: asking guests if they need stamps or ice, chatting about Yoke's signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information on reusable bag rebates).
  • Understanding and capable of performing the following: verifying and maintaining overall accuracy of price data, reporting discrepancies, generating item movement, ad loss, and other reports as requested, determining sign list for sign maker, printing, hanging, and maintaining signage and price tags on merchandise throughout the store, programming outdoor electronic reader board to reflect price specials, checking as assigned, and using "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!"
  • Operating (at minimum) the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: com-line, phone, baler, box cutter, FM unit (handheld), computer, symbol unit, cash register, and trash compactor.
  • Mentoring new associates or associates who are new to the department or task and assuring a positive learning environment.
  • Finding a way to make our guests happy.
  • Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety and guest services.
  • Participating actively in the store's accident reduction plan including: monitoring store slip/trip hazards, cleaning or assigning clean up of spills immediately, and recognizing: safety features of all machinery, personal protective equipment, store evacuation plan, and robbery policy.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED; one year months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Grocery Department experience is ideal experience for this position.
  • Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as computer user manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and company procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and pleasantly to guests, vendors and fellow associates at all times.
  • Mathematical Skills

Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, and volume.
  • Reasoning Ability

Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Manages problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
