Senior Data Management Analyst

UTHealth Houston's Development Office is seeking a Senior Data Management Analyst to utilize advanced data management and analytical tools. The Senior Data Management Analyst supports the Office of Development by leading data governance, data quality, and complex data operations within the Affinaquest (Salesforce) constituent database and associated reporting systems. This role serves as a senior technical resource responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, security, and usability of development data, while partnering closely with teams in the Office of Development, Public Affairs, and Information Technology. You will serve as the bridge between data analysts and business intelligence professionals on the data management team in Development.

This role will be hybrid, but during training may be in the office consistently. Our building is in the Texas Medical Center, the University Center Tower. This role is eligible for all benefits, is salaried, and is classified as exempt. Applicants should be strong with databases and have a background in fundraising, non-profit, or higher education.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead the management of complex development data within the CRM database, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and appropriate use across constituent, gift, transaction, campaign, appeal, fund, and allocation data.
  • Design and implement data quality and validation strategies, including monitoring, reconciliation, remediation, and audit support, to maintain reliable and trusted data across operational and reporting systems.
  • Develop and maintain advanced SQL, SOQL, and Apsona queries to analyze data, identify anomalies, investigate root causes, and support corrective actions and reporting needs.
  • Design, build, and maintain complex reports and dashboards within the CRM database and related reporting platforms to support fundraising operations, analytics, and decision making.
  • Create, maintain, and troubleshoot data management tools, scripts, and processes supporting data imports, exports, transformations, automation, and ongoing system maintenance.
  • Establish, document, and maintain data management standards, procedures, and best practices, including data definitions, governance rules, and operational runbooks for recurring processes.
  • Collaborate with development staff, reporting teams, system administrators, and business partners to gather requirements and translate business needs into data and reporting solutions aligned with best practices.
  • Provide functional guidance and mentorship to Data Management Analysts, including reviewing work for accuracy and completeness and supporting skill development.
  • Collaborate with vendors, internal technology teams, and end users to support data-related enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Advanced knowledge of query design, data validation, reconciliation techniques, and reporting support
  • Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining complex relational databases.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data quality and propose corrective actions.
  • Experience supporting data quality and governance initiatives.
  • Ability to document technical processes and communicate data concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail.

MINIMUM EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems, or related field Related experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE Four (4) years of experience working with complex databases, data management, or data quality functions. Two (2) years of experience in an academic, healthcare, non-profit, or fundraising/development environment preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

SECURITY SENSITIVE This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position.
