Job description

Role: Direct Client - Sr Packaging Consultant
Location: Seattle WA - Onsite preferred - Remote may be option
Duration: 6+ months

Role Profile & Primary Focus

We are seeking a proactive Packaging Specification Consultant to drive the build-out of our internal specification management system for our retail client. In this role, you will serve as a technical quality advisor for consumer-facing packaging (including cups, lids, and food bags).

You will review technical engineering documents and accurately transition that data into our specification system. Quick adoption of our software tools is critical for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spec System Build-out: Input, organize, and manage technical data within our internal specification management system (e.g., SpecRight).
  • Technical Document Review: Analyze engineering drawings, material metrics, and R&D documentation for accuracy before system entry.
  • Quality Advising: Act as an internal advisor to ensure packaging specs meet corporate standards.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with internal R&D and engineering teams; supplier communication and auditing are minimal.

Candidate Requirements - Must - Have Experience

  • Years of Experience: 3 to 5+ years of dedicated experience in packaging quality or packaging engineering.
  • Technical Literacy: Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, packaging metrics, and blueprints.
  • System Experience: Hands-on experience using enterprise specification management systems (e.g., SpecRight, PLM software).
  • Product Familiarity: Experience working with high-volume, consumer-facing packaging (e.g., rigid lids, cups, flexible food bags).

What We Are Not Looking For

  • No Food Safety Specialists: This is a technical packaging data role. Candidates with a food safety/quality assurance background who lack direct packaging engineering/specification experience will not be considered.
  • No Generalists: Candidates must have explicit experience in the packaging industry.

Nice-to-Have (Optional)

  • Industry certifications (such as GMP or ISO compliance) are welcome but not required.
