The League is a social dating app startup backed by IDG Ventures, xSeed Capital, Cowboy Ventures, Structure Capital, Sherpa Ventures, and many notable angels. The Founder is a Stanford MBA (ex-Google, ex-Salesforce) with a strong product sense (engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon) and a fierce determination to change the dating space for the better. The League is live in 150 cities, brings in healthy revenue each month, and leads the pack in it's innovative feature set that includes live video speed dating.
Job Description
The data analyst role is part of the analytics team, will report to the Head of Data Science. S/he will be responsible for performing deep-dive analysis to understand and optimize key levers of our product's marketing funnel: acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention. Additionally, s/he will be responsible for designing core metrics that serve as North Stars for team efforts and OKRs. A successful candidate in this role has the opportunity to contribute to creating a foundation of analytical excellence at the League and promoting a culture of data-driven decision making. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, a robust knowledge of SQL, and experience using programming languages such as python/R to automate their analyses and analytical work.
Responsibilities:
  • Directly own the creation of key company metrics used to track aggregate company OKR performance
  • Conduct quarterly prioritized analysis projects targeted at revenue and user growth
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses as defined by cross-functional partners and prioritized weekly
  • Manage and maintain dashboards in Periscope that relate operational performance across company departments and track key company metrics
  • Work with product managers and engineers to design data products and run A/B experiments
  • Work directly with product and business stakeholders to translate the questions and hypotheses into structured analysis.
  • Own data analysis and visualization, and communicate the outcomes/insights to various partners (marketing, data, product, eng) to aid strategic decisions for improvements in experience for our users and help create potential feature + experimentation candidates.
  • Apply statistics, modeling and machine learning techniques to improve efficiency and relevance of The League's matching algorithm
  • Work towards creating a data-driven culture at The League
  • Understand what matters most and prioritize ruthlessly

Qualifications
  • Bachelors' in CS, Engineering, Physics, Math, Statistics, Business, Economics or related field
  • Fluency in SQL, as well as a deep understanding of statistical analysis, experiment design, and common pitfalls of data analysis
  • Expertise in at least one programming language useful for statistical analysis (e.g. python/R)
  • Strong communicator: You effectively synthesize, visualize, and communicate your ideas to others
  • You are a critical thinker: You are thoughtful, self-aware, and use available evidence to make decisions
  • You can lead initiatives across multiple product areas while communicating findings with leadership and product teams

Nice to haves:
  • Prior experience in Gaming or Dating industry
  • Knowledgeable about the machine learning trade-offs and model evaluation
