Position Overview:
At the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), we take pride in and highly value our employees. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineering/Analyst Assistant to join our team. Comprehensive training will be provided to help you support our team effectively. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists with cleaning, transforming, and validating raw data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and readiness for analysis or storage
  • Supports the development, monitoring, and troubleshooting of data pipelines and processes to ensure successful task completion
  • Builds data models in our data warehouse using dbt
  • Builds dashboards in Power BI to support business intelligence
  • Creates and maintains documentation for data processes, solutions, and issues, improving team knowledge-sharing and transparency
  • Collaborates with data engineers and analysts on ongoing projects, actively participating in team meetings and contributing to assigned tasks
  • Supports testing, debugging, and issue resolution for data processes and scripts, documenting problems, and applying fixes
  • Proactively engages in learning new tools, technologies, and data engineering concepts to develop technical skills and contribute effectively
Qualifications:
  • Must be a Utah State University student pursuing a degree in data engineering, data analytics, information systems, or a related field with a minimum of 1 year remaining in school
  • Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summers
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts, including scripting skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies
  • Must be U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., or other U.S. person
