Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Manager, Information Privacy supports the Director, Information Privacy in execution and assessment of the Henry Ford Health Information Privacy program strategy and operations. The manager is responsible for the on-going development and implementation (both reactive and proactive) incident investigation strategies and is expected to manage and participate in privacy investigations, privacy education, policy development and task management of the corporate privacy team. The manager monitors the performance of privacy incidents responses, its compliance with existing laws and regulations, and its alignment with emerging threats and incident trends related to patient data and employment data. This position will work in a collaborative effort with Corporate IT and all business units of Henry Ford Health (HFH) to ensure that proper incident management processes are followed, and remediation controls are in compliance with HFH policies, and applicable international, federal, and state laws and regulations. In addition, the Manager oversees the day-to-day management of Lead Privacy Specialists, Sr. Privacy Specialists and Privacy Specialists who will directly report to the Manager.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Detailed knowledge of Privacy laws (i.e., HIPAA, HITECH, GLB, GDPR, PIPEDA, etc.), access, release of information and release control technologies. Information management principles and ability to apply these through project and change management skills. Investigation techniques, required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of applicable experience.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is critical. Demonstrated experience of managing day-to-day aspects of client relationships and corporate incidents is necessary.
  • The ability to work extremely well under pressure while maintaining a professional image and approach with clients is critical. Must possess the ability to articulate in written and oral communication.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) or J.D. required.
