Job description

Company Description
Quadratic is a well-funded seed-stage startup revolutionizing the entire concept of 3D printing to open up new commercial and industrial applications. The company's technology is based on a groundbreaking invention by a dynamic multidisciplinary team of scientists at Harvard. Think Star Trek Replicator. Veteran entrepreneurs guide the company with a deep commitment to transparency in a high-trust environment. We focus relentlessly on rapid results with fast customer feedback loops. Make a broad impact as an early team member and help us invent the future of 3D printing.
Job Description
Quadratic 3D is seeking a Ph.D. polymer chemist to design, synthesize and characterize innovative oligomeric/polymeric, photopolymerizable 3D printing resins in a fast-paced startup environment. Candidates getting consideration will have strong fundamentals in interdisciplinary polymer chemistry with particular expertise in synthesis, formulation and characterization of novel polymers; will produce innovative solutions to complex problems; will be self-motivated and document/analyze data methodically; and will have good communication and presentation skills and work collaboratively in a team environment. Responsibilities include:
  • Develop, formulate and test photopolymerizable 3D printing resins and characterize their properties.
  • Collaborate and interface with team employing resins in novel 3D printing conditions
  • Independently conceive and execute projects
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead projects with manageable risks and resource requirements
  • Ensure compliance with EH&S requirements and promote safety in the work environment.

Qualifications
  • Fundamental understanding of synthesis, chemical and mechanical properties of polymeric materials is essential.
  • Understanding of the structure-property relationship of various polymers to change formulations/polymer system and ability to manipulate the polymers to suit the requirements of desired physical, chemical and mechanical properties is required.
  • Experience with 3D printing, excitonics and/or quantum dots is preferred.
  • Ph.D. in Polymer, Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering degree with 3 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • One or two years of postdoc experience is helpful.
