Description
Join Our Team as a Data Platform Engineer!
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer to manage, optimize, and modernize our enterprise data ecosystem. This role is responsible for the administration and support of Microsoft SQL Server environments, business intelligence platforms, cloud-based data integration services, and enterprise reporting solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong database administration expertise with hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL development, analytics, and cloud data platforms. You will play a key role in ensuring data availability, reliability, performance, and scalability while enabling business users to make data-driven decisions through modern reporting and visualization tools.
Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm.
Compensation: Starting salary of $100,000.
Key Responsibilities
SQL Server Administration & Performance Management
  • Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Azure Managed Instance environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, and migration projects.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively optimize queries, indexes, and server resources.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, and data integrity.

Data Integration & ETL Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Build and support cloud-based data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Develop and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes from multiple source systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality and integration issues.

Business Intelligence & Analytics
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Tabular and Multidimensional models.
  • Create and manage enterprise semantic layers, dimensions, measures, and KPIs.
  • Create and optimize stored procedures
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements.

Reporting & Visualization
  • Develop, maintain, and support SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports and reporting environments.
  • Support Tableau Cloud environments, including data sources, extracts, dashboards, reporting, permissions, and performance optimization.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of metrics across enterprise reporting platforms.
  • Power BI administration and report creation

Cloud Data Platform Support
  • Support modernization initiatives involving Azure-based data services and analytics solutions.
  • Assist with migration of legacy BI and ETL processes to cloud-native architectures.
  • Implement best practices for performance, scalability, monitoring, and governance.

Collaboration & Documentation
  • Work closely with business users, analysts, developers, and IT teams to deliver data solutions.
  • Document data architectures, processes, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in project planning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.
  • Strong experience with:
  • SQL Server Administration
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Tableau Cloud administration, including managing extracts
  • Row-level Security (RLS) across Tableau and SQL Server
  • Advanced SQL development and performance tuning skills.
  • Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing solutions.
  • Strong experience with building Tableau and SQL measures such as prior year and point-in-time metrics
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, or other Azure data services.
  • Experience with data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and semantic layer design.
  • Experience supporting enterprise reporting and self-service analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with Tableau administration and governance best practices.
