General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate human support work managing Students of Success site, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and performing various functions associated with grant program and goals, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the SOS Program Coordinator.
Examples of Duties
Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Essential Functions Manages middle school Students of Success participants and Student of Promise volunteers. Ensures homework is completed and tutoring is provided; collaborates with teachers and staff; communicates with parents regarding successes and challenges. Engages students in planned physical and academic activities. Coordinates guest speakers; utilizes community resources. Prepares reports and other types of correspondence; prepares and maintains files and records. Prepares monthly calendar, which includes planning student activities, field trips, special events, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. Some knowledge of department policies and procedures; general knowledge in preparing reports and other types of correspondence; general knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software; ability to make arithmetic computations; general knowledge in the operation of the equipment required for the position; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain working relationship with associates and the general public.
Physical Requirements
This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work frequently sitting and speaking or hearing and occasionally requires standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, night vision and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in human services, education, or a related field and one year of experience working with youths with an emphasis on behavior management, or post high school education in human services or a related field and one to two years of experience working with youths; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Must have valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
