Job description

Material Master Data Coordinator

The Opportunity Material Master Data Coordinator at a growth-oriented downstream energy company. Drive standardization across all sites and platforms and partner with the Master Data function on architecture, standards, and tooling while retaining Procurement-side ownership of creation and controls. Reporting to the Director, Procurement Shared Services, this role enforces standardized noun-modifier naming and nomenclature, drives consistency across all sites and platforms, and partners with the Master Data function to keep material data accurate, non-duplicated, and audit-ready.

Key activities include:

  • Own the creation, extension, change, blocking, and lifecycle of material master records in SAP, and the controls that govern them.
  • Enforce standardized noun-modifier naming and nomenclature and maintain data accuracy across all SAP views, sites, and platforms.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues, duplicates, and missing or incorrect attributes.
  • Support internal stakeholders with material data requests and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to reporting, data quality tracking, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with ERP projects, SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA initiatives, and master data migration activities.

Qualifications To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Additional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in material master data, procurement/sourcing, inventory or materials management, or ERP master data with a focus on SAP, ideally supporting multiple sites or operating locations required
  • Hands-on working knowledge of SAP Material Master in SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA (MM01, MM02, MM03, MM17, MM60, MMBE) required
  • Solid understanding of how material master data supports Purchasing, Inventory Management, Invoice Verification, Sales and Distribution, and Production Planning required
  • Familiarity with master data governance, controls and approval workflows, and data quality standards, with experience owning or enforcing those controls while partnering with a Master Data function required
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct data errors accurately and efficiently required
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with reports, data sets, and basic metrics tracking required
  • Familiarity with the SAP Classification System (characteristics, classes, class types) and with industry cataloging taxonomies and nomenclature standards (e.g., UNSPSC, eClass, ISO 8000 / noun-modifier dictionaries) for material categorization and standardization preferred
  • Knowledge of Production Planning (PP) basics including MRP parameters, BOM structure, and planning data requirements preferred
