About the Role:

Fine Fettle is seeking a General Manager (GM) to oversee all aspects of our store's retail operations. The GM will manage and supervise the store's retail staff to ensure that store operations run smoothly and are aligned with the company's strategic objectives. The GM will be chiefly responsible for ensuring that the store is achieving its highest priority goals, maximizing operational productivity, and maintaining excellent culture and employee morale.

This role also partners extensively with the Commercial Team to help grow the market within the state including: participating in local customer acquisition initiatives and customer engagements and representing the company at local relevant groups and organizations.

The ideal person for this role has extensive experience managing teams in fast-paced, high traffic retail environments. Success in this role requires a combination of leadership and management skills, mobilizing teams to maximize productivity in day-to-day operations while managing them at a high enough level to not get spread thin in the details. The most effective candidates in this role will also be constantly assessing the effectiveness of store operations and correcting faults to drive process improvement.

Primary Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  • Ensure store operations run smoothly and the highest level store goals are achieved
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of schedules for employees and workflow
  • Assist in the construction of store budget and ensure that operations accord with budgetary constraints
  • Manage team leads across the dispensary, including leadership in back-of-house, front-of-house, and sales floor
  • Ensure in coordination with Purchasing team that inventory purchasing and management in the store is being run efficiently and effectively
  • Foster a strong culture and sustain a high level of team morale
  • Manage the store's strategic goals that drive high-level business outcomes and design operational activities to further them
  • Evaluate KPIs and store data to identify areas of improvement
  • Recruit and train store employees
  • Hold store employees accountable for performing at a high level and complying with company policies
  • Develop store staff, administrating performance evaluations and periodic reviews, authorizing promotions, and terminating employees as needed
  • Coach and delegate work to employees to foster self-managing teams
  • Ensures store's compliance with onerous legal and regulatory cannabis requirements
  • Coordinate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure that financial goals are being met and operational dynamics are understood

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business, retail, or a related field
  • Master's degree is preferred but not required
  • 3-5 years of experience managing retail facilities
  • Experience leading and managing diverse customer-facing teams
  • Cannabis market experience is valuable but not required
  • Basic understanding of finance, accounting, marketing, management and economics
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Ability to manage teams effectively, and to give and receive feedback
