Job description

Title: Data Warehouse Analyst
Client: Florida Department of Transportation
Interview: In-person
Duration: 12 Months contract with possible extension
Location: Barry Building 3185 S. Blair Stone Rd Tallahassee, FL 32311 (Onsite)
Scope of Services
The Data Warehouse Analyst / Report Builder will develop and optimize Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and analytical reports integrated with Snowflake. Services include creating advanced DAX calculations, writing and tuning complex SQL queries, and ensuring Snowflake datasets are modeled and structured for reliable Power BI consumption. The resource will work with data engineers to support dimensional modeling, maintain metadata and data lineage documentation, and ensure accurate, high-performance reporting. The Analyst will collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable reports, troubleshoot performance issues across Power BI and Snowflake, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment with minimal oversight.
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other related fields. Or equivalent work experience. Equivalent work experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
Experience
1.Required minimum of 5 years of IT work experience in business intelligence tools and systems.
2.A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience developing enterprise-level analytical reports,dashboards, and data models using Microsoft Power BI, including advanced report design, paginated reports, performance tuning, and DAX.
3.Advanced SQL query writing includes CTEs, window functions, and analytical queries with optimization.
4.Strong understanding of star schema design and fact/dimension modeling.
5.Proficient in Snowflake tuning, clustering keys, compute optimization, and cost control.
6.Familiarity with Snowflake RBAC, roles, warehouse sizing, and data governance.
7.Proficient in building Power BI semantic models with strong DAX and clean dimensional design.
8.Experience in integrating Power BI with Snowflake and connection modes.
9.Proficiency in Power BI Report Builder, workspace management, and performance optimization.
10. Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and documentation.
11. Experience embedding Power BI reports into web or internal applications.
12. Knowledge of CI/CD for Power BI and version control is a plus.
Primary Job Duties/ Tasks
The activities the candidates will be tasked with include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.Design and develop Power BI dataflows and semantic models using dimensional modeling practices.
2.Build advanced DAX measures and analytical logic to support enterprise-grade end-user reporting.
3.Create user-friendly, high-performance Power BI reports and dashboards that meet defined business requirements.
4.Write and optimize complex SQL queries (CTEs, window functions, analytical queries) to retrieve and prepare Snowflake data for reporting.
5.Collaborate with Snowflake data engineering teams to ensure fact/dimension tables are structured and optimized for Power BI consumption.
6.Integrate Power BI with Snowflake using appropriate connection modes, ensuring performance, query folding, and data reliability.
7.Document data lineage, metadata, and report specifications to support maintainability, governance, and transparency across analytics assets.

The submitted candidates must be able to apply specific knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
1.Knowledge of dimensional modeling and star schema design for semantic model development.
2.Knowledge of advanced Power BI capabilities including DAX, data modeling, and Power Query.
3.Knowledge of Snowflake performance tuning, compute optimization, and RBAC security concepts.
4.Skill in building optimized, scalable Power BI semantic models using strong dimensional design.
5.Skill in writing advanced SQL queries and tuning Snowflake datasets for Power BI consumption.
6.Skill in creating high-performance Power BI reports with clean DAX logic and intuitive visual design.
7.Ability to translate business requirements into structured semantic models and actionable reports.
8.Ability to troubleshoot performance issues across DAX, SQL, and Snowflake compute layers.
