Job Description:

GDIT is seeking an Infrastructure Manager to join our program supporting the biomedical research community for our customer with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead endtoend enterprise infrastructure operations across onpremises data centers and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Manage desktop engineering and endpoint systems for Windows, macOS, and Linux, including adoption and governance of the Microsoft Intune Endpoint Management platform.
  • Oversee lifecycle support, patching, configuration control, and compliance for scientific computing devices and Special Purpose Equipment (SPE).
  • Direct network operations, including routing, switching, firewalls, DMZ environments, load balancers, and coordination with CIT network services.
  • Manage data center environments, enterprise storage platforms, virtualization clusters, and server compute infrastructure across multiple sites.
  • Oversee data protection, backup operations, archival systems, disaster recovery replication, and continuity of operations (COOP) readiness.
  • Lead administration and optimization of enterprise databases, including SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloudmanaged database services.
  • Drive modernization initiatives using automation, InfrastructureasCode, containerization, CI/CD platforms, AIOps tooling, and securityaligned operational practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related IT or engineering field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience managing hybrid enterprise infrastructure across onpremises, Azure, AWS, and GCP environments.
  • Strong expertise with Windows Server, RHEL, virtualization platforms, and enterprise storage and compute systems.
  • Demonstrated background in desktop engineering for Windows, macOS, and Linux, including modern endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune.
  • Proficiency with InfrastructureasCode and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Chef).
  • Solid understanding of enterprise network architecture, routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, and DMZ environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, compliance requirements, and remediation practices in large or federal environments.

  • Experience overseeing lifecycle management, configuration control, patching, and compliance efforts for scientific computing devices and Special Purpose Equipment (SPE).
  • Background with modern infrastructure modernization technologies such as Kubernetes, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with enterprise virtualization and storage platforms (e.g., VMware/HPE Greenlake, Dell EMC Isilon/Powerscale).
  • Handson work with automation frameworks, InfrastructureasCode, AIOps, or AIenabled operational tools.
  • Knowledge of multiregion cloud architectures, cloud cost governance, and dataintensive scientific workflows.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with federal stakeholders, research teams, and crossfunctional IT groups.

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
