What is a data governance platform?

A Data Governance Platform is a software solution designed to help organizations manage, monitor, and control their data assets effectively. It provides tools and frameworks for ensuring data quality, security, privacy, and compliance with regulations. These platforms enable companies to define data ownership, establish policies, track data lineage, and facilitate collaboration among stakeholders. By using a data governance platform, businesses can improve data transparency, reduce risks, and make more informed decisions.

To thrive as a Data Governance Platform Specialist, you need a solid understanding of data management principles, metadata, data quality, and compliance frameworks, often supported by a degree in information systems or a related field. Familiarity with data governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, or Alation, as well as relevant certifications like CDMP, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective communication set top performers apart in this role.
